Public Transportation in Northbrook and the Chicago Metro Area 101
Limited Capacity seats available

While many high school students look forward to getting their first driver's license or first car so that they can go places independently of their parents or others, the city of Northbrook and surrounding towns also have a public transportation network that high school students can utilize to go places independently as well. In this presentation, a graduate of GBN will give attendees a "field guide" on how to utilize the public transportation options in Northbrook and the Chicago metro area. This field guide will include the different fares of each transit system, how to read and interpret different maps for each bus and train route, how to stay safe on public transportation, and how students with disabilities can utilize public transportation to achieve greater independence. In addition, he will describe how, after realizing that he was ineligible to obtain a driver's license for various reasons while a GBN student, he learned how to navigate the local public transportation system to go places throughout Northbrook and elsewhere independently, and how he helped other students at GBN during his high school career do the same.
